Background
James trained in biomedical science and worked in pharmacology research before moving into science writing. Most of that work involved reading trial protocols closely enough to see how often a headline finding rests on a single small study, an unusual endpoint, or a population that looks nothing like the general reader.
The project began out of frustration with the two sources most people land on when they search for information about modafinil: hype-driven forum threads that treat anecdote as evidence, and manufacturer documents that disclose the minimum required and little else. Neither answers the ordinary question of what the research actually reports.
His mission here is narrow and stated plainly: translate peer-reviewed research into plain language, with full citations, and be explicit about the limits of the evidence — including where the honest answer is that the data are thin or absent.
Editorial approach
Every page is written independently and describes what studies and regulatory documents report, in which populations, and with what limitations.
